About The J

The Junction aka 'The J' is a Youth and Community Centre operated by Sunshine Coast Regional Council. Named to reflect its location and to indicate a convergence of ideas and generations, the Centre is a venue for all members of the community providing events, programs and activities across a broad range of cultural, artistic, recreational and educative interests.

The J was officially opened by Mayor Bob Abbott on the 26th October 2006. Funding for the Centre was provided through a State Government grand of $1.587M, a Federal Government grant of $1.2M with the balance of funds contributed by Council.

Official OpeningWhile Council provides day-to-day management of the Centre, staff will work with an Advisory Committee comprising of 10 community members to ensure clear communication and exchange of ideas between Centre management and the community. The J is home to a 328 seat auditorium with retractable seating, lounge and recreational areas, meeting and workshop areas and the University of the Sunshine Coast satellite campus which offers courses for the first year business programs and a masters program. In addition, the multiple award winning Noosa Community Radio FM 101.3 is located at The J with a state of the art studio.
