NIFF SHORT FILM AWARDS

Celebrate the art of filmmaking. Category winners of the NIFF Open Short Film Competition will be awarded at this special presentation, with prizes presented by Academy Award-winning Cinematographer, John Seale.
The NIFF Awards is a free event and precedes the Inside Cinema main event (ticket sold separately).

INSIDE CINEMA: AN EVENING WITH JAMES CURRIE

Join us for a fascinating insight into the magic of sound in cinema. Australian arthouse film director, Rolf de Heer joins sound designer, James Currie for a fascinating double header Q&A, hosted by In Noosa Magazine's John Caruso. Inside Cinema will take you behind the scenes on the making of Australian iconic films Ten Canoes, Charlie’s Country and cult classic Bad Boy Bubby, exploring how sound design complements the imagery in these films depicting Australian history and culture.

A story of the birth of the Australian surfing boom, a golden decade when surfing was transformed from a cultish offshoot of lifesaving into a sport and culture with its own music, movies, fashions and heroes. And if you love the old school sounds of the pipeline, Sunshine Coast musicians, Band of Frequencies will perform the original soundtrack live.
