Event Information

Odd Man Out It starts like a fairy-tale romance. Ryan tells Alice she has a beautiful smile and suddenly he is asking her out. Alice has never met anyone like Ryan before. He's charming, forthright and painfully truthful. She knows their relationship is moving way too fast, but there is something ridiculously attractive about this straight-talking man.

His bluntness may upset her family and friends, but when he asks her to marry him, she finds herself saying... yes. As newlyweds, Alice discovers a side of Ryan she never knew existed – and becomes determined to fix his flaws, with ridiculous and disastrous results.

“Remarkably fascinating…absorbing…recommended.” Diana Simmonds, Stagenoise

“Packed with life….plenty of laughs.” Stage Whispers

“Cotta turns in a spectacular performance, intelligent and thorough in his approach, for an interpretation that is immensely engaging and amusing, while retaining a solid amount of insightful nuance. Whether wildly rhapsodic or sensitive and quiet, Cotta provides the production with excellent layers of depth and clarity, giving the show a meaningful sense of purpose.

“Impressive…compelling….finely nuanced.” John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
“There is humour and pathos in Williamson’s writing. Justin Stewart Cotta is brilliant and engaging. Director Mark Kilmurry has done a great job with the direction. A play worth seeing for its examination of love and commitment, and for raising our awareness of the debilitating Aspergers Syndrome.” Sydney Arts Guide
“David Williamson…a master of social comedy…impressive…Odd Man Out is at times hilarious. It’s also confronting...a pleasurable theatrical experience.” Sydney Scoop
