After the recent success of ‘Cinderella goes Disco’ and two “sold-out” performances of ‘Rumplestiltskin’, Jally Productions will present their latest offering ‘The Pied Piper’ during the school holidays in July to three council venues.
Local award-winning company Jally Productions provides quality “interactive” theatre for children, encouraging their involvement in the play by taking up a variety of roles, sparking and developing children’s interest in theatre and acting.

The Pied Piper:
Once upon a time in a land far away, was a town called Hamelin. While the town was suffering from a rat infestation, when a man dressed in ‘pied’ appearance, claiming to be a rat-catcher, promised the townspeople a solution to their problem. The Mayor, in turn promised to pay him for the removal of the rats. The Pied Piper played a musical pipe to lure the rats out of the village and demanded a large sum of money for his services. The mayor refused and the Piper left the village, very upset and seeking revenge. Of course we can’t give away too much but in Jally Production’s modern version of the traditional story the children are in for a great fun day with the Pied Piper.
A colourful cast of characters includes: Mayor Hoffman, a totally incompetent, but well meaning official, Veronica, the delightful school teacher of Hamelin and her daughter, Gretel plus of course The Pied Piper and his very clever assistant, Trudy, who has a few tricks of her own to share. In this delightful participation play, children become villagers, school children and those pesky rats.
Jally Productions have once again assembled a fine cast of Sunshine Coast actors for this favourite children's classic including Tim Page, Alli Pope and Matt Dunstan. Make sure you hang around after the show to meet your favourite characters and don’t forget to bring your camera …!!

The magic created is incredible!
The cast will mingle with the audience after the show!

'An intelligent group with a fantastic sense of humour to compliment their creativity, Art vs. Science are an absolute storm....audiences and musicians alike are downright hooked on this feel-good breed of stomp.' - Fasterlouder

Following the announcement that festival favourites ART vs SCIENCE have been added to the Splendour in The Grass and Parklife line-ups, the Sydney trio are set to embark on an extensive national tour of their own in August.

The triple j Unearthed winners have built up an impressive fanbase over the past year, thanks in no small part to the stomping, party-starting tracks Flippers and Parlez-Vous Francais? and their show-stopping live act, which has seen them play to capacity crowds at gigs and festivals around the country (including Splendour, Good Vibes, Groovin the Moo and Come Together), earn laudatory reviews and debut in the top 10 of the iTunes album chart with their self-titled debut EP (out now through MGM).

Supporting the band on their national tour will be Melbourne’s rather good electronic pop outfit HERCULES IN NY.

ART vs SCIENCE's last tour completely sold out so grab your tix early. Presented by triple j, triple j tv, Fasterlouder and SPA.

genre:       surf movie / surf music

After a sold out screening and concert at the J in Noosa 'The Present' returns by popular demand, this time to The Lake - Kawana. Thomas Campbell’s new Super 16mm film, The Present, is a colorful and artistic exploration of the beautiful environment surfers play in everyday. It’s his third film and a follow up to the ground-breaking log movie The Seedling and more recently Sprout.
“Doing a tour is a long-time tradition in our culture. It’s also the most sure fire way of bringing the film to the surf community directly, and people love it. … It's a really nice exchange.” explains Campbell.
Campbell hand picks some of surfing’s most talented and creative individuals and captures them riding waves in exotic locales around the word. Presented in Australia by Margie Wegener and the Lala Society, The Present features the modern alaia, developed by Tom Wegener Surfboards. Local surfers Jacob Stuth and Harrison Roach travelled to Indonesia along with some high-profile free surfers to test the ancient board in some very remote waves. The Present’s basic premise is, “Taking a view into our lives as surfers on this planet, and showing that this moment—in our surfing lives right now—is a gift. It also has a subtle preservation message about our oceanic playgrounds.”
Like Campbell’s other films, The Present covers several surfing sub-cultures. Some include: surfers riding ’60s style surf equipment; modern day hi performance tri-fin short boarding; sustainable surfboard building; and following the evolution of a recent board design movement based on 1,000 year old equipment that ancient Hawaiians rode called alaias. Throw in a funny skit with people riding surfboards with exercise equipment and ladders bolted to the decks. Then add some travels to West Africa, Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, California and Hawaii and you end up with a classic surf film narrative. All of this happens to the backdrop of a timeless, down-tempo soundtrack that has been a hallmark of Campbell’s other works.

Saturday 18 July at 7pm for a 8pm start. The screening of The Present will be followed by more grooving to a full concert featuring ‘The Band of Frequencies’.
Tom Wegener, Harrison Roach and Jacob Stuth will be present for an after- film Q & A session. This event is licensed, strictly 18 plus (no I.D., no entry, no refund) and tickets are $25 including lucky door prizes. Bookings at The Lake - Kawana, The J or book online

Spoken Word Australia is all about the stories...the stories of those people who stick in our memories for all the right – and wrong - reasons, but who continue to entertain us in a myriad of ways...
...and we’re all curious about what famous people have to say, especially when they’re dishing the dirt on someone else who’s famous too. There’s that sense of knowing a secret that gets us all in a lather and we can’t wait to tell our mates all about it, even when we know we shouldn’t...!

Spoken Word Australia gives you that chance.
Guy initially came to international attention at the tender age of 19 as the bass player in one of our own musical success stories, “Icehouse”, which he was a member of for nearly 4 years. Touring the world almost continuously in the early 80’s, Icehouse landed the European support slot on David Bowie’s massive 1983 “Serious Moonlight” tour catapulting Guy into the view of the music elite.
Now the bass player of choice for many of the worlds’ finest & most well-loved musicians, Guy joined the premier league of bassists when David Gilmour asked him to play with Pink Floyd.
